From Swahili to Japanese, Russian to Arabic, we give our students the opportunity to become cross-cultural experts in an ever more internationalized world as they develop concentrations such as Film and Visual Culture and Comparative Cultures. It offers training in languages and cultures from all corners of the globe. The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is home to multiple language programs. An ability to contribute to the departmental Translation Certificate would be highly valuable. The period of specialization for this position is open, but the department is particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research address areas such as the following: Mediterranean Studies, the Literature and Cinema of Migration, Environmental Humanities, Transnational Studies, Film, and Visual Culture. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a robust program in Foreign Languages and Literatures by 1) teaching two language and culture courses in Italian and French per semester, 2) maintaining an active research agenda, and 3) providing service to the department, the university, and the profession.
